MANILA, Philippines 鈥� President Ferdinand聽 Marcos Jr. on Thursday inspected the command center of Valenzuela City and extended assistance to residents affected by flooding due to the southwest monsoon or 鈥渉abagat鈥� and Typhoon Carina.
In a Facebook post, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Valenzuela City remains one of the cities still flooded after La Mesa Dam overflowed, with the water reported to be chest-high in some areas.
鈥淎s of 8 p.m. yesterday, the local government of Valenzuela reported that an estimated 4,839 families or 18,868 individuals sought refuge in 68 evacuation sites.聽 However, some evacuation sites had to be vacated due to flooding,鈥� said PCO.

In response, PCO said Marcos inspected parts of the city and visited its command center.
鈥淔ollowing his inspection, the president will visit Barangay Malanday to distribute government aid and assistance at Malanday National High School which currently houses 352 families or an estimated 1,629 individuals,鈥� the PCO added.
Carina, the country鈥檚 third tropical cyclone in 2024, exited the Philippine area of responsibility at 6:20 a.m. on Thursday after causing downpours in most parts of the country, including Metro Manila.
