15 public schools in Quezon City move class opening to Aug 1 and 5

MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen elementary and secondary schools in Quezon City have rescheduled their opening of classes for the School Year (SY) 2024-2025 to August.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 27, the local government said most public schools in the city will push through with their SY 2024-2025 class opening on Monday, July 29, except for the following:
To open on August 1
- Sto. Cristo Elementary School
- Balumbato Elementary School
- Cong. Reynaldo Calalay Elementary School
- Sinagtala Elementary School
- Odelco Elementary School
- San Francisco Elementary School
- Dalupan Elementary School
- Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School
- Rosa L. Susano Elementary School
- Josefa Jara Martinez High School
- Sta. Lucia High School

According to the city government, these schools have been affected by torrential rains and eventual flooding brought by Typhoon Carina-enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat” in local term.
Article continues after this advertisementOn Friday, July 26, the Department of Education (DepEd) said incessant rains and floods in recent days damaged at least 12,800 schools in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR); National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila; and Regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 4-B, 5, 6, and 8.
The DepEd also reported that 738 public schools in CAR, NCR, and Regions 3 and 12 would not be following the set SY 2024-2025 class opening on July 29.
