Cloudy skies, scattered rains expected due to LPA, ‘habagat’

Pagasa: Cloudy with rain showers in PH due to LPA, habagat

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, will continue to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms to different parts of the country, the said Saturday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa reported that Zambales, the Ilocos region, Babuyan Islands, and Batanes will experience cloudy skies and scattered rains due to the southwest monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan likewise due to the southwest monsoon.

The LPA was last spotted some  770 kilometers off Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

“Kung makikita po natin, ito po ay nasa karagatan pa rin po kaya hindi po natin inaalis ang posibilidad na ito ay maging isang ganap na bagyo,” said Pagasa weather forecaster Chenel Dominguez. 

(The LPA is still over the sea, hence we are not discounting the possibility that it will develop into a storm.)

Due to the LPA’s trough or extension, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast in the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Quezon.

Meantime, no gale warnings are in effect over any of the country’s seaboards
