LPA, habagat to bring rain over most parts of PH, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Catarman in Northern Samar and the southwest monsoon, locally called habagat, is expected to bring rain in most parts of the country on Sunday.

In a morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last monitored some 440 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar at around 3 a.m.

“Nanataling mababa yung tsansa nitong maging bagyo ngunit hindi pa rin natin inaalis yung possibility na sa mga susunod na araw na ito ay mag-develop at maging isang ganap na bagyo,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported.

She added LPA will mainly affect Southern Luzon, and habagat will be felt in Northern and Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and the southwest monsoon.

Castañeda warned residents in affected areas of possible flooding.

Nevertheless, Pagasa did not raise a gale warning in the country’s seaboards.
