DepEd: 77% of learners so far enrolled for School Year 2024-2025

MANILA, Philippines — More than 77 percent of learners from elementary, high school, and alternative learning systems (ALS) levels have so far enrolled for School Year (SY) 2024-2025, data from the Department of Education (DepEd) showed.

As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, a total of 21,563,642 out of 27,722,835 students enrolled for the current school year, which officially began on Monday in most schools nationwide.

The number is still expected to go up until the end of the enrollment period on Sept. 16, the DepEd said.

SY 2024-2025 will end on May 16, 2025.

However, there are still 841 schools from the National Capital Region and Regions 1, 3, 4A, and 12 that postponed their class opening due to the ongoing cleanup and repair activities in the areas.

In an interview with reporters on Monday, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said schools that postponed their class opening may conduct Saturday classes to make up for lost school days.

“It’s usually like that; it’s necessary to do make-up classes on the weekend when classes on weekdays are suspended,” he said in Filipino.
