MANILA, Philippines — Ahead of the 2025 midterm elections, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, chaired by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., formed an alliance with his old bloc, the Nacionalista Party (NP).

The partnership was formed during a ceremonial alliance signing at the Brittany Hotel at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

In his speech, Marcos looked back on his time as a member of NP, admitting that he would never have been president if it wasn’t for the party’s help.

Because of this, he called on the members of both parties to support bets in the upcoming elections who are willing to set aside partisan and personal differences in politics.

“[This is to ensure that the candidates] that will win next year are the leaders that understand that we must put our partisan or personal differences aside,” said Marcos.

“Ang pinaka mahalaga ay magkasundo tayo kung ano man ang pinakamaganda para matulungan natin ang ating mga kababayan,” he noted.

(The most important is that we agree on whatever is best so that we can help our countrymen.)

“Inuuna natin lagi ang ating mga kababayan. Inuuna natin lagi ang Pilipinas,” he added.

(We always put our fellow citizens first. We always put the Philippines first.)

Former Senate President and NP President Manny Villar, for his part, expressed joy over the formation of the alliance, stating that it will prove that the Philippines is a “nation capable of rising above differences in order to build a bright future.”

“This alliance with the President’s political party — the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas — is the right first step towards that glorious direction,” he said.

“This coalition of major political parties is a strong message to our people that political affiliation is subordinate to our common vision: Ang Bayan Higit Sa Lahat,” he emphasized.

According to Marcos, the alliance between the PFP and NP is now the largest political bloc in the country.
