MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Parts of Northern Luzon are expected to experience rain showers due to the effects of the southwest monsoon while most areas nationwide will have fair weather on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a public weather report early Thursday morning, Pagasa said the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will mainly affect the western portions of Northern Luzon where cloudy skies and rain are anticipated.
鈥淏y today asahan ang makulimlim na panahon at pagulan sa may western section ng Northern Luzon kabilang ang Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands,鈥 weather specialist Benison Estareja reported.
(By today, expect cloudy and rainy weather over the western section of Northern Luzon, including the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands.)

He added that the rest of the country will experience fair weather conditions despite chances of overcast skies and rain showers from Thursday afternoon to evening.
Estareja likewise reported that Pagasa is not monitoring any weather disturbance or low-pressure area within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
鈥淔or the next two days wala din tayo aasahan na bagyo sa loob ng PAR,鈥 he also reported.
(For the net two days, we are also not expecting the formation of a typhoon within PAR.)
For Friday and over the weekend, Estareja said the effects of the southwest monsoon will still be weak.
As for the country鈥檚 seaboards, Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over any coasts nationwide, he added.
