Locals near Mayon water channels told to prepare for effects of Enteng
LEGAZPI CITY – Residents near the gullies of Mayon Volcano, river channels and low-lying areas in Albay province were advised on Sunday, September 1, to prepare for possible evacuation due to possible effects of the Tropical Depression “Enteng.”
In Daraga town, Acting Mayor Gerry Raphael Jaucian Jr. Said all the village officials were asked to actively monitor the weather condition and its effects in areas near the river channels, especially near Mi-isi gully in Barangay (village) Mi-isi.

In Camalig town, the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office was closely monitoring the river channels in villages of Libod, Bariw, Salugan, Tagaytay, Ligban, and Ilawod due to possible flooding.
Residents in flood and landslide-prone areas were advised to secure their properties and prepare emergency kits.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Legazpi City, Mayor Carmen Geraldine Rosal also advised all barangays to manage localized pre-emptive evacuation of families living along coastal areas, prone to flooding and landslides.
Article continues after this advertisementFishermen and small seacrafts were advised not to venture into the open sea due to strong gale force winds that could bring moderate to rough seas.
Rosal also banned tourist activities, including hiking, mountaineering, diving and other similar activities.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Enteng maintained its strength as it moved northwestward.
It was located 110 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar and sustained winds of 45 kilometer per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 was raised in the eastern portion of Isabela (Palanan, Dinapigue), the eastern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan), the eastern portion of Camarines Norte (Mercedes, Basud), the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Presentacion, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Calabanga, Naga City, Pili, Bombon, Magarao, Ocampo, Baao, Nabua, Bula, Balatan, Bato, Milaor, Minalabac, Camaligan, Saglay, Iriga City, Buhi, Tigaon, San Jose, Goa, Siruma, Tinambac, Lagonoy, Canaman, Gainza, San Fernando), Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias Island, and Ticao Island; and in Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and the northeastern portion of Leyte (Babatngon, San Miguel, Tacloban City, Alangalang, Santa Fe, Palo, Barugo) in Visayas area.
