Enteng triggers flood in some Metro Manila roads

MANILA, Philippines — Rains generated by Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi) flooded several roads in Metro Manila on Tuesday morning.

As Enteng continued to dump rain, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said floodwaters as high as eight inches were recorded in the country’s capital region.

In a Facebook post, the MMDA enumerated the flood situation in the following:

  • Taft Ayala northbound, three inches as of 8:50 a.m.

  • Taft Lagusnilad southbound, four inches as of 8:34 a.m.
  • C3 Dagat Dagatan southbound, four inches as of 8:10 a.m.
  • Quirino Pedro Gil northbound, four inches as of 8:05 a.m.
  • Bonifacio Drive 25th Street northbound, four inches as of 6:32 a.m.

The MMDA, however, said all affected roads became passable to all types of vehicles by 11 a.m.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Enteng slightly weakened as it crossed the mountainous regions of Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Region.

But Enteng was also forecast to intensify again as it approached the West Philippine Sea.
