Habagat causes flooding in some parts of Metro Manila on Thursday (Sept. 5)

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Some parts of Metro Manila experienced up to eight inches of flooding on Thursday morning due to continuous rains, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

Below is the list of flooded areas as of 8:14 a.m.

  • C3 North Bay Boulevard southbound, eight inches
  • Katipunan after Luzon flyover northbound, eight inches
  • E. Rodriguez, Araneta Avenue southbound, five to seven inches
  • Sergeant Rivera, A. Bonifacio Avenue northbound and southbound, three inches

These roads are passable to all types of vehicles despite the flood, the MMDA said.

In its early morning advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon, locally termed 鈥渉abagat,鈥 will bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, La Union, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Northern Palawan and the rest of Central Luzon.

Habagat was also forecast to bring rains in Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.

Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi), on the other hand, will likely cause overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be experienced for the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
