Alleged drug traffickers’ arrest in Quezon yields P1M worth of shabu

Quezon cops seize alleged pusher 'Ibon', P428,000 worth of 'shabu'

LUCENA CITY – Three alleged drug traffickers were arrested on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 14 and 15) in buy-bust operations in Lopez and Gumaca towns in Quezon province.

The operations yielded more than P1 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in the street market, Quezon police chief Colonel Ledon Monte reported Sunday.

Lopez police anti-narcotics agents nabbed “Rocky,” 37, around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after he sold P8,000 worth of meth to a poseur buyer in a transaction held in Barangay (village) Pansol.

The operatives confiscated from the suspect a total of six sachets of meth weighing 35 grams with an estimated value of P239,020 based on information from the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

The seized shabu is worth P717,060 in the street market at the prevailing price of P20,400 per gram, the report stated.

Earlier, local policemen also collared “Billy,” 32, in another sting operation in Barangay Danlagan around 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect yielded a sachet of shabu worth P112,200 in the street market.

According to the report, Rocky and Billy had previous drug charges but did not state why and when they were freed.

In neighboring Gumaca town, policemen busted “Dardo,” 45, in Barangay San Juan De Jesus around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.

The cops found six sachets containing meth weighing 10 grams with DDB valuation of P71,000 and street value of P214,200 in his possession.

Quezon police are investigating the source of the drugs peddled by the suspects.

The suspects were detained in local police jails and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
