Pagasa issues rainfall warnings in Luzon; flooding possible

Some parts of Visayas were placed under red and yellow rainfall warnings and may experience possible flooding, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of Visayas were placed under red and yellow rainfall warnings and may experience possible flooding, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), areas under the red rainfall warning are expected to experience over 30 millimeters (mm) of rain within the next three hours, while those under the orange rainfall warning will experience between 15 millimeters (mm) and 30 mm of downpour for the next three hours.

Meanwhile, areas placed in the yellow rainfall warning will experience between 7.5 mm and 15 mm of rain for the same period.

Red

  • Antique (Patnongon, San Jose, Belison, Hamtic, Tobias Fornier, Anini-Y);

Orange

  • Antique (Bugasong, Valderrama, San Remigio, Sibalom);
  • Iloilo (San Joaquin, Miagao, Igbaras, Guimbal, Iloilo City, Oton, Leganes, Tigbauan, Pavia);
  • Negros Occidental (Isabela, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Pontevedra, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, La Carlota City, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pulupandan, Himamaylan City, Bago City, Murcia, Bacolod City);
  • Guimaras (Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, Jordan, San Lorenzo, Buenavista);

Yellow

  • Antique (Libertad, Pandan, Sebaste, Culasi, Tibiao, Barbaza, Laua-An, Caluya)
  • Negros Occidental (Kabankalan City, Ilog, Cauayan, Candoni, Sipalay City, Hinoba-An);
  • Iloilo (Lambunao, Leon, Alimodian, Maasin, Janiuay, Calinog, Bingawan, Santa Barbara, San Miguel, New Lucena, Cabatuan, Tubungan, Zarraga, Dumangas);
  • Capiz (Tapaz, Jamindan, Sapi-An, Mambusao);
  • Aklan (Madalag, Libacao, Malinao, Ibajay, Nabas, Malay, Buruanga, Tangalan, Makato, Numancia, Kalibo, Lezo, Banga, New Washington, Balete, Batan, Altavas)

Earlier, the state weather bureau said that it is monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPA) inside and outside of the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR), which have a chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Pagasa said the LPA inside PAR was last spotted 460 kilometers (km) east of Casuguran in Aurora, while the one outside is far from the country’s landmass at 2,160 km east of Eastern Visayas.
