MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in the country announced suspension of classes for Wednesday, September 18 due to the rains brought by tropical depression Gener and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

Below is the list of areas where classes are suspended:
Luzon
- Manaoag, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private
- Mangaldan, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private
- Rosales, Pangasinan – all levels, public and private
- Atok, Benguet – preschool to senior high school, public and private
- Kapangan, Benguet – preschool to elementary, public and private
- Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro – all levels, public and private
- Rizal, Occidental Mindoro – all levels, public and private
Visayas
- San Jose de Buenavista, Antique – pre-school to senior high school, public and private
- Bacolod City, Negros Occidental – pre-elementary to senior high school, public and private
- Murcia, Negros Occidental – all levels, public
- Silay City, Negros Occidental – all levels, public and private
- Victorias City, Negros Occidental – all levels, public and private
- Bais City, Negros Oriental – all levels, public and private
According to the state weather bureau, Tropical storm Pulasan entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and was assigned the local name Helen.
Meanwhile, tropical depression Gener remains inside PAR as it moves westward over the West Philippine Sea at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour (km/h) as of 4 p.m.
Gener was last spotted 235 kilometers west northwest of Baguio City, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is hoisted in the following areas:
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Western portion of Pangasinan (Sual, Burgos, Dasol, Mabini, Infanta, Labrador, City of Alaminos, Bani, Bolinao, Anda, and Agno)
