BFP: Fire at Sampaloc eatery leaves 1 woman dead

MANILA, Philippines — A female stay-in employee died after a fire broke out at an eatery in Sampaloc, Manila on Tuesday morning.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said in a Viber message that the blaze started at 3:30 a.m. in the eatery located along G. Tuazon Extension.

The fire reached the first alarm at 3:40 a.m. and was under control at 4:03 a.m., according to authorities.

Manila Fire District Station 5 Commander Sr. Insp. Cesar Mabante said the blaze was extinguished by 4:12 a.m.

The BFP has yet to identify what caused the fire as the investigation was still ongoing as of writing.

It, however, noted that 10 firetrucks, one ambulance, and fire volunteers responded to the incident.
