BPSF rolls out P75M in aid, programs for creative industry

MANILA, Philippines — A total of P75 million in financial aid and capacity-building programs were distributed to more than 15,000 creative industry members during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Pasay City, which commenced on Sunday.

According to House Deputy Secretary-General Sofonias Gabonada, the BPSF gave P5,000 in cash aid to beneficiaries under the Ayuda sa Kapos Ang Kita Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Five kilos of rice were also given to each of the 15,000 beneficiaries, he added.

“The BPSF is one of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s programs to assist every sector of our society, including those in the creative industry. This shows that the government has not forgotten our workers in the fields of art and media,” Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said in a statement.

The event titled “Paglinang sa Industriya ng Paglikha” was joined by actors and directors, including Dingdong Dantes of Aktor PH League of Filipino Actors, Jose Javier Reyes of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Boots Anson-Rodrigo of the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc., and Paolo Villaluna of the Film Academy of the Philippines.

It also featured workshops and training sessions, in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the Department of Labor and Employment, aimed at equipping industry workers with relevant skills and knowledge.

“These workshops are designed to develop expertise in arts, media and entertainment, empowering participants to innovate and thrive in their respective fields,” Romualdez said.

The BPSF also facilitated access to essential government services for professionals in the creative sector.

Job fairs and support programs tailored to meet the needs of the creative sector were organized in partnership with key industry stakeholders, according to Romualdez.

“I believe that the programs of the BPSF will pave the way for more opportunities for our fellow citizens in the creative sector, leading to a more secure future for them,” he added.
