More packs of floating 'shabu' found in waters off Zambales

SUBIC, Zambales — Another batch of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) valued at P6.8 million was discovered floating on Tuesday night in the waters off Zambales, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zambales.

Three fishermen from Barangay Matain found the illegal drugs and immediately surrendered them to authorities. The newly recovered drugs will be included with those found the previous day and transferred to PDEA’s national headquarters for further investigation.

On Monday, Oct. 14, around 5 p.m., eight fishermen from the same village recovered two plastic bags containing about 1,800 grams of shabu, worth P12.24 million, near Lubang Island in Zambales.

Later that evening, a fisherman from Barangay Camaya in Mariveles, Bataan, found another plastic bag containing around 350 grams of shabu, valued at P2.38 million.

The PDEA Central Luzon has launched a joint investigation by its Zambales and Bataan offices to trace the source of the drugs and identify any potential links between the incidents.

The agency commended the fishermen for their swift actions, underscoring their vital role in preventing the dangerous drugs from reaching local communities. INQ
