Marcos appoints Marilyn Barua-Yap as CSC ad interim chair
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Marilyn Barua-Yap as ad interim chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
According to the appointment letter dated October 16, 2024, which was released to the media on Thursday, Barua-Yap’s term will expire on February 2, 2029.

It was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and received by the CSC on October 17.
Barua-Yap replaced Karlo Alexei Nograles, who resigned from his post to run for Davao City mayor.
Article continues after this advertisementShe is a lecturer at the University of the Philippines Diliman and an undersecretary at the Department of Agrarian Reform’s Special Concerns Office and External Affairs and Communications Operations Office.
She was also elected secretary general of the House of Representatives in the 14th Congress—the first woman to occupy the position as well as in the 15th Congress.
