House suspends work again on Thursday, Oct. 24, due to Kristine

MANILA, Philippines – Work at the House of Representatives is still suspended on Thursday, October 24, due to the continued impact of severe tropical storm Kristine.

Secretary General Reginald Velasco in an advisory early Thursday morning said, “In view of the continued inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm Kristine, work in the House of Representatives is hereby further suspended on October 24, 2024.”

Velasco added that only essential personnel are required to report to their offices, as determined by their respective Deputy Secretaries General or the Sergeant-at-Arms.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its 2 a.m. bulletin, Metro Manila will experience heavy to intense rainfall with the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 on Thursday.

The state weather bureau last reported that Kristine was moving 15 kilometers per hour northwestward.

Pagasa expects the severe tropical storm to weaken while crossing Northern Luzon, emerge over waters west of Ilocos Norte by Thursday afternoon, and exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday.
