MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas in Luzon on Thursday night due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, the state weather bureau said.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised a red rainfall alert over Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna provinces.
Areas under the red rainfall warning will experience over 30 millimeters (mm) of rain within the next two hours. Severe flooding is also expected in these areas.

Meanwhile, an orange rainfall alert was up in the following areas:
- Bataan
- Zambales
- Metro Manila
- Rizal
- parts of Quezon (Lucban, Tayabas, Lucena, Dolores, Tiaong, San Antonio, Sariaya, Candelaria)
Areas under an orange rainfall alert will experience between 15 to 30 mm of rain. Flooding is also possible in areas near the rivers.
Pagasa raised a yellow rainfall warning over the following areas:
- Nueva Ecija
- Tarlac
- Bulacan
- Pampanga
- Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Mauban, Pagbilao, Real, Sampaloc, Agdangan, Alabat, Atimonan, Buenavista, Burdeos, Calauag, Catanauan, General Luna, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Jomalig, Lopez, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Perez, Pitogo, Plaridel, Polillo, Quezon, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, Unisan)
Areas under a yellow rainfall warning are forecast to have between 7.5 mm and 15 mm of rain. Flooding is also possible in low-lying areas and near river channels.
According to Pagasa, Kristine was last located over the coastal waters of Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur. It was packing a maximum wind speed of 95 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gustiness of up to 145 km/h.
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday afternoon. However, the storm is forecast to re-intensify as it moves over the West Philippine Sea.
