PCG suspends sea travel in Zambales due to Pepito
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspends sea travel in Zambales on Saturday afternoon (November 16, 2024) due to expected rough sea conditions that will be caused by Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi). Coastal communities and fisherfolks were also advised to refrain from engaging in sea activities or other enterprises that are risky before or during the onslaught of weather disturbances to prevent untoward incidents. MASINLOC, ZAMBALES — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel on Saturday afternoon (November 16) in this province due to expected rough sea conditions that will be caused by Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi).
In an advisory, PCG-Zambales station chief Commander Euphraim Jayson Diciano said all seacrafts heading to or transiting in the province, except those that will take shelter in the province’s ports, are disallowed.
Coastal communities and fisherfolks were also advised to refrain from engaging in sea activities or other enterprises that are risky before or during the onslaught of weather disturbances to prevent untoward incidents.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in the province and other parts of Luzon on Saturday morning, ahead of Pepito’s anticipated landfall in the vicinity of Catanduanes.
Article continues after this advertisement(Pagasa) said in its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone update that Pepito carries maximum sustained winds of up to 185 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
Article continues after this advertisementSuper Typhoon Pepito was last spotted 185 kilometers (km) east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 250 km east of Juban, Sorsogon. It was heading west-northwest at 25 kph.
Pagasa said Pepito will pass through the Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Region before emerging at the West Philippine Sea. Pepito is anticipated to leave Philippine area of responsibility by Monday, November 18.
