All Bicol flights, 54 flights via Manila canceled

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Saturday afternoon that the Bicol Tower will be closed due to Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi).

MANILA, Philippines – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Saturday afternoon that the Bicol Tower will be closed due to Super Typhoon Pepito (international name Man-yi), thus, canceling all flights.

“All flights this afternoon are canceled,” CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said, adding that the last flights for Saturday are CEB 325/326.

Pepito is forecast to make landfall over Catanduanes on Saturday night or early Sunday.

According to CAAP, the Bicol International Airport, as well as the airports in Naga and Virac “have advanced their preparations where all precautionary measures are put in place.”

Meanwhile, CAAP also reported that Tacloban and Calbayog airports had 30 canceled flights, affecting more than 1,400 individuals.

Meanwhile, local carriers Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific earlier announced the cancellation of several domestic flights via Manila, in anticipation of the possible impact of Pepito.
