LTFRB: No surge of motorcycle taxis in NCR

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has denied claims of a surge in the number of motorcycles (MCs) for-hire in Metro Manila, saying the figure has not increased over the past three years.

“[The] LTFRB did not increase the number of MC taxis in the National Capital Region (NCR). It [was] pegged at 45,000 three years ago, [and] it still stands at 45,000. All the allegations are false and misleading,” LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz II said in a statement on Monday.
