MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte laughed off the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) plan to issue her a subpoena regarding her alleged order to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa revealed this to reporters on Tuesday when asked about Duterte’s reaction to NBI’s plan.

“I informed her this morning, and she kept on laughing,” Dela Rosa said in a chance interview outside the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City.

“What crime did she commit? She will be killed first before she commits a crime. By that time she’s already dead, who will be accountable? That’s the premise; it’s conditional, you kill me and I kill you,” he added.

Dela Rosa was referring to Duterte’s statement last Saturday revealing that she ordered someone to “kill” the first couple and Romualdez should she be assassinated.

The Vice President conducted a series of press conferences addressing issues surrounding the detainment of her chief of staff Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez in the House of Representatives.

Lopez is currently confined at the VMMC due to medical issues caused by a panic attack. She is accompanied by Duterte and Dela Rosa at the hospital.
