LOOK: Coastal cleanup drive in Batangas to enhance PH diving experience
ANILAO, Mabini, Batangas — Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, ambassadors from neighboring countries, guests of the Philippine Dive Experience launch, and some Batangueños on Friday took part in a coastal cleanup drive in Mabini, Batangas.
The activity is part of the Department of Tourism’s effort to engage the public to keep coastal areas clean.
“Since it is our desire to ensure the long-term sustainability and viability of all our marine resources and our dive destinations, it’s important that all of us help each other and work together, not just to dive, but also to help conserve and clean our shores and ensure that this diving activity, this touristic activity, will be viable for generations to come and will continue to provide livelihood and employment to our local economies and our local communities,” Frasco told reporters in a brief interview.
On Wednesday, the DOT launched the first-ever Philippine Dive Expedition in Anilao, to bolster and elevate the diving experience in the country.
The launch was made special by the World Travel Awards’ announcement that the Philippines is still the World’s Leading Dive Destination across the globe for the sixth consecutive year.
