MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will have rainy weather due to three weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said the northeast monsoon or amihan, shearline and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), along with two cloud clusters due to the last two weather systems, will affect most areas nationwide on Sunday.

“Una na dito, yung northeast monsoon or amihan na nagdudulot pa rin ng malamig na panahon at maulap na kalangitan na may mga pag ulan sa may malaking bahagi ng northern at central Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

(Among these weather system is the northeast monsoon or amihan that brings cold weather, cloudy skies and rainy weather over a large portion of northern and central Luzon.)

“Samantala, makikita din po natin itong mga kumpol ng kaulapan dito sa Bicol region kung saan ito ay dala ng shearline,” she added.

Castañeda said the shearline will mainly bring rain over most parts of Southern Luzon, Metro Manila and some parts of Visayas.

On the other hand, ITCZ also caused the formation of another cloud cluster in Mindanao.

The weather specialist explained that ITCZ will mainly bring thunderstorms over the southern and western sections of the region, including Palawan.

LPA may form in the next few days

Meanwhile, Pagasa has not monitored any low-pressure area (LPA) or typhoon that may affect or enter the country’s area of responsibility in the next few days.

But she said they are not ruling out the possibility that an LPA could form over the western part of Palawan or Visayas.

Castañeda said if this bad weather forms, this LPA will not likely develop into a tropical cyclone.
