Shear line to bring rains to parts of Luzon on Dec. 2
MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in Luzon will continue to experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms on Monday due to a shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Due to the shear line, areas including Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa will experience cloudy skies throughout the day with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms,” state weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said in Filipino during a Sunday afternoon forecast.
The state weather bureau also warned residents in areas affected by the shear line to remain vigilant against potential flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Jorda also mentioned that the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring cloudy skies with rains to some areas in Northern Luzon.
“The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies throughout the day with light to moderate rain over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and the Cordillera Administrative Region,” she said.
Fair weather conditions are expected in the rest of Luzon, including the Ilocos Region and other parts of Central Luzon. However, there may be brief and light rain or drizzles caused by the northeast monsoon. she added.
Article continues after this advertisementPagasa likewise hoisted a gale warning over the coastal areas of Isabela, the northern coast of Aurora, the northern and eastern coats of Polillo Island in Quezon, and the northern and eastern coast of Catanduanes.
Article continues after this advertisement“We advise against allowing citizens, fishermen, and those with small sea vessels to sail in the mentioned areas or coastal waters due to the expected large and high waves, which may reach up to 4.5 meters in height,” Jorda said.
