PH Red Cross to supply blood in partnership with Bulacan hospital

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has partnered with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Hospital in Malolos City, Bulacan to ensure a steady blood supply for patients, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, twice a month for one year, the PRC will provide a safe, adequate, and affordable blood supply for the hospital’s patients needing a blood transfusion, especially the poor ones.

Prior to this partnership, it was the PRC’s chapter in Bulacan province that was supplying blood to Sacred Heart Malolos, providing 766 units of blood to 435 patients.

“We are in the vocation of alleviating the suffering of vulnerable people so we’re easing the burden not only on patients, but their families. Hindi na nila kailangang magpunta sa amin para sa dugo (They wouldn’t have to go to us for blood), we will deliver blood to their doorsteps,” Gordon’s statement read.

“Hospitals can also save money because they’d no longer need to pay for people to get blood since we’d be the ones to bring to the hospital ourselves,” he added.
