MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday announced schedule adjustments for Metro Manila train lines in preparation for the upcoming holiday rush.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista stated that the revised schedules aim to serve more commuters during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“On select days, our trains will operate earlier in the morning and later into the night to offer greater convenience to passengers during the holiday season,” Bautista said in a statement on Thursday.

On December 25, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 will begin its first trip 30 minutes later than the regular 4:30 a.m. schedule.

Meanwhile, the LRT Line 2 will have its last trip 30 minutes earlier than the usual 9 p.m. schedule on Christmas Eve.

The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 will start its first trip two hours later than the regular 4:36 a.m. schedule on December 25 and January 1.

Its last trip will be an hour earlier than the usual 9:30 p.m. schedule on December 24 and 31, according to Bautista.
