Speaker’s office denies ‘malicious’ rumors
MANILA, Philippines — The office of Speaker Martin Romualdez on Saturday described as “malicious” rumors that he suffered a stroke and had been confined in a hospital.
“These allegations are completely untrue and are clearly designed to mislead the public and sow confusion,” Romualdez’s aide, lawyer Lemuel Erwin Romero, said in a statement.
He said the Speaker is in excellent health and was in Malacañang on Friday morning for the signing of the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act (Republic Act No. 12076) and the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act (RA 12077). —PNA
