Kababaihan strengthens DOJ’s commitment to female PDLs
MANILA, Philippines — Kababaihan, an organization committed to promoting women’s rights and inclusivity in governance, recently provided free medical and diagnostic services to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
Held last December 6, the outreach program benefitted over 300 PDLs, primarily senior citizens and those with health challenges.
The initiative was part of the Department of Justice’s Action Center (DOJAC) Katarungan Caravan, under the supervision of DOJ Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez.
In line with the holiday season and the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), Kababaihan underscored its commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and well-being. During the event, Pinay Girl Boss founder Atty. Tina de Guzman and Atty. Fofo Fernandez conducted a lecture on women’s empowerment, highlighting the critical role that women play in creating a more inclusive society.
