Marcos orders DBM, DepEd to provide higher SRIs for public teachers
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to coordinate in providing higher Service Recognition Incentives (SRI) for public school teachers.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the government is aiming to increase public school teachers’ SRI from P18,000 to P20,000.
The SRI refers to the yearly financial incentive granted to government employees to recognize their commitment and dedication to quality and responsive public service.

Meanwhile, in a chance interview in Bulacan, when asked if the SRI for all government employees will also be increased, Marcos responded:
“Teachers are a special category, so we have to handle that individually,” he said.
The PCO then said that the implementation and timeline for the increased SRI will be announced as soon as the DBM and DepEd finalize the necessary funding mechanisms.
