MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted parts of Negros Occidental and nearby areasÌý Tuesday afternoon, according to the

Phivolcs reported that the earthquake, which struck at 3:37 p.m., was tectonic in nature with a depth of 32 kilometers deep.Ìý

Its epicenter was traced some 3 kilometers northwest of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.

The following areas experienced the following reported intensities, which are measured by how people felt the earthquake and the damage to their surroundings:

Intensity V (Strong)

  • Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental

Intensity III (Weak)

  • San Jose de Buenavista in Antique
  • Hamtic in Antique
  • City of Iloilo
  • City of Sipalay in Negros Occidental

Intensity II (Slightly Felt)

  • Sibulan, Negros Occidental

Meanwhile, the following instrumental intensities, which are measured by an intensity scale, were experienced in the following areas:
