MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area east of Mindanao has developed into Tropical Depression Querubin on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The state weather bureau spotted the cyclone some 215 kilometers (kms) east-southeast of Davao City as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, with a maximum wind speed of 45 kms per hour (kph), gusts of up to 55 kph and slowly moving south-southwest.

Hence, Pagasa raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over Davao Oriental.

“Querubin is forecast to move east-northeastward while slowly moving away from Davao Region over the next 12 hours before turning northward by tomorrow (18 December),” Pagasa said in its Tuesday afternoon update.
