INQToday: Probe Immigration over Harry Roque’s escape from PH – quad comm
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) must be probed to uncover who helped former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque leave the country undetected, according to the House of Representatives quad committee.
The mega panel investigating illegal drugs, the Philippine offshore gambling operators (Pogos), and the extrajudicial killings during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte made the recommendation in a progress report submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
DOJ: Board of pardons to study Veloso clemency
The Board of Pardons and Parole would have to study granting executive clemency to Mary Jane Veloso, who was nearly executed in Indonesia for drug trafficking, before making such a recommendation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Thursday.
Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres made the pronouncement after Marcos said legal experts would still have to assess if Veloso can be granted clemency.
The Philippines’ first polymer banknote series was presented to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in a ceremony in Malacañang on Thursday.
The new designs of P50, P100, and P500 bills were released following the launch of the P1,000 polymer banknote into circulation in 2022.
