Rainy weather to prevail in most parts of PH on Dec. 23
MANILA, Philippines — Most parts of the country will experience rains on Monday due to three weather systems, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In Pagasa’s 4 a.m. weather forecast, weather specialist Obet Badrina said the shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, will affect portions of southern Luzon and Visayas.
On the other hand, the trough of Tropical Depression Romina will bring rain to Palawan.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally termed “amihan,” will affect parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

“Makakaranas ng mahihinang pag-ulan at maulap na kalangitan ang ang malaking bahagi ng Cagayan Valley region, Cordillera at ilang lalawigan sa central Luzon, partikular sa bahagi ng Aurora, Nueva Ecija,” added Badrina.
(A huge portion of the Cagayan Valley region, Cordillera, and other provinces of Central Luzon, particularly in Aurora and Nueva Ecija, will experience light rains and cloudy skies.)
Metro Manila may also experience cloudy skies and light rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, particularly the Ilocos region, will have generally fair weather with possible isolated and light rains due to “amihan.”
The shear line will bring moderate to heavy rains and cloudy skies over a huge portion of Visayas, particularly in Eastern Visayas.
“Makikita din natin ang maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan sa Palawan dulot ng trough o extension ng bagyong tinawag nating si Romina,” Badrina noted.
(Palawan will also see cloudy skies and rains brought by the trough or the extension of Tropical Depression Romina.)
Romina is also no longer directly affecting the Kalayaan Islands in Palawan and is now heading towards Vietnam.

Meanwhile, many parts of Mindanao will experience generally fair weather with isolated thunderstorms.
A gale warning is also raised over the coastal areas of the following areas, where 3.4 to 4.5 meters of waves are likely to occur:
- Batanes
- Babuyan Islands
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur (Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Santo Domingo, San Vicente, Santa Catalina and Vigan City)
Pagasa also warned small seacrafts must avoid sailing due to the sea conditions brought by the northeast monsoon.
