Marcos OKs laws declaring special holidays in 9 areas

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has signed nine laws declaring special holidays in different areas, including Republic Act No. 12097, which made June 20 a special working holiday in Guinayangan, Quezon, to commemorate its founding anniversary on June 20, 1804.

RA 12097 also authorized the President to issue a subsequent proclamation to declare it a special nonworking holiday.

RA 12098, on the other hand, proclaimed April 4 a special nonworking day in Antipolo City, Rizal, in celebration of its cityhood anniversary on April 4, 1998.

Marcos also signed RA 12099, which repealed RA 7672 which proclaimed June 18 as a special nonworking holiday in Benguet. The law declared Nov. 23 a special nonworking holiday in the province, or “Benguet Day,” to mark its foundation day on Nov. 23, 1900.

RA 12100, meanwhile, declared July 28 a special nonworking holiday in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, or “Cabadbaran Day” to commemorate its cityhood anniversary on July 28, 2007.

The President likewise signed RA 12101, which made Nov. 7 a special working holiday in Cuenca, Batangas, to remember its founding on the same day in 1876. The law also authorized him to later proclaim it as a special nonworking holiday.

Also signed was RA 12102 which declared Nov. 3 a special working holiday in Kalibo, Aklan, in honor of its founding on Nov. 3, 1571.

Founding day

April 16, on the other hand, will be a special nonworking holiday in Marikina City by virtue of RA 12103 in celebration of its founding anniversary on the same day in 1630.

This law amended RA 10788 enacted in 2016, which designated April 16 as a special working holiday and provided for class suspensions to mark the occasion.

Marcos also signed RA 12104 proclaiming Jan. 22 as a special working holiday in Guiguinto, Bulacan, to commemorate its Halamanan Festival, a yearly event held since 1998 to celebrate the town’s founding on Jan. 1, 1915.

RA 12104 also authorized the President to declare Jan. 22 a special nonworking day in Guiguinto.

Lastly, RA 12105 declared Jan. 8 a special working holiday in Pavia, Iloilo, in honor of its founding anniversary in 1848. The law also authorized the President to declare it a special nonworking holiday.
