Shear line, amihan to bring Christmas Day rain in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — Expect rain to continue over Luzon on Christmas Day due to the effects of the shear line and the northeast monsoon (locally known as amihan), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Magiging maulan pa rin sa Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region at Central Luzon dahil pa rin sa epekto ng shear line,” said Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz – Galicia.

(It will still be rainy in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Central Luzon due to the effect of the shear line.)

“Samantala, dito naman sa Cagayan Valley Region at Cordillera Administrative Region, mataas din ang tiyansa ng ulan dahil naman sa amihan,” she added.

(Meanwhile, here in the Cagayan Valley Region and Cordillera Administrative Region, there is also a high chance of rain due to the amihan.)

Likewise, isolated rain showers will prevail in the rest of Luzon due to the effects of amihan.

Meanwhile, the shear line is also expected to bring rain over Palawan and Eastern Visayas, while “improving weather” is expected over the rest of Visayas.

Mindanao, on the other hand, will have generally fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms.
