Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Agusan del Sur
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Agusan del Sur on Thursday evening, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
According to Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located 10 kilometers southeast of Jose Talacugan, Agusan del Sur, and was recorded at exactly 6:26 p.m.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers.

Phivolcs said Intensity IV was felt in the City of Bislig and Hinatuan in Surigao Del Sur.
Meanwhile, Intensity III was felt in the cities of Gingoog, Medina, Magsaysay, and Jasaan in Misamis Oriental, as well as Nabunturan, Mabini, Monkayo, and Laak, in Davao de Oro, and Barobo in Surigao del Sur.

Phivolcs said the following instrumental intensities were also recorded:
- Intensity III – City of Gingoog, Misamis Oriental; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; City of Bislig, Surigao del Sur.
- Intensity II – City of Malaybalay and Libona, Bukidnon; City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur; City of Digos, Davao del Sur.
- Intensity I – City of Surigao, Surigao del Norte; Alabel, Sarangani
Phivolcs then warned that damage due to the quake is expected and that aftershocks may occur.
