MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla reminded local government units (LGUs) to enforce regulations on firecrackers to prevent injuries during New Year celebrations.
In a memorandum, Remulla urged LGUs to come up with ordinances or other regulations banning or discouraging individuals or households from using firecrackers as prescribed by Executive Order No. 28 -2017.
鈥淟GUs must restrict the use of firecrackers only to community fireworks displays that have secured necessary permits and conduct information campaigns on the dangers of prohibited fireworks,鈥 he said.

According to Remulla, the public should opt for alternative noise-making items such as horns, recycled containers, pans, and other common household items to welcome 2025.

The Department of Health earlier said it recorded 101 firework-related injuries from December 22-27.
