MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday reminded its officers to prepare and be vigilant of the potential risks associated with New Year festivities.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil made the pronouncement as he ordered police officers to remain attentive to emergency situations while on duty ahead of the New Year revelry.
“The New Year is a time of celebration, but it is also important to be aware of the risks that come with it. Our responsibility goes beyond just enforcing peace and order—it extends to ensuring the safety of our fellow citizens,” said Marbil in a statement.
“Police personnel should be ready to assist in any emergency, including fire incidents, accidents, and providing first aid when necessary,” he added.
Marbil then instructed all police mobile units to be equipped with fire safety devices and first aid kits to ensure immediate assistance to anyone in need.
“As we continue to protect and serve, let us ensure that we are fully prepared to address any situation, especially with the heightened activities during the holiday season. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and our officers must be ready to respond swiftly and effectively,” he said.
Meanwhile, Marbil also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police.
