Twin quakes strike 2 Ilocos Norte towns

MANILA, Philippines — Two consecutive earthquakes struck two towns in Ilocos Norte on Sunday morning, the state seismologists said.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a magnitude-3.7 earthquake occurred east of Burgos, Ilocos Norte at 5:34 a.m.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 12 kilometers (km).
Phivolcs’ first bulletin on this earthquake put the tremor’s strength at magnitude 4, with a depth of 10 (km).

Its latest bulletin updated it to magnitude 3.7.
It likewise stated that instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:
Intensity II: Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Intensity I: Laoag City, Ilocos Norte

Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.8 tectonic quake hit east of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, at 5:40 a.m.
It had a depth of eight km.

Initially, the second earthquake was reported to have occurred west of Bangui, Ilocos Norte, at 5:40 a.m. at magnitude 4.
It had a depth of 10 km.
The latest bulletin said instrumental intensity I was recorded in Laoag and Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte.
Phivolcs noted that no aftershocks and damage to property are expected from the two earthquakes.
