Pacquiaos, 1-Pacman party list bullish on 2025
MANILA, Philippines — World boxing icon Manny and his champ fighter brother Bobby Pacquiao are optimistic about 2025 as they seek to resume their second career — public service — and return to Congress as lawmakers.
Manny, the eight-division world boxing champion, is making a comeback to the Senate after a three-year break. At the same time, Bobby, a former congressman, seeks to return to the House of Representatives from a stint as a councilor in their native General Santos City.
The brothers, now retired from active competition as prizefighters, will also be riding on the crest of the highly productive 1-Pacman party-list group when the national campaign period for the 2025 mid-term elections starts on Feb. 11.

Sportswoman and entrepreneur Milka Romero and Shey Muhammad are the first and third nominees, respectively.
Romero is taking over the reins of 1-Pacman, following in the footsteps of her father, House committee on poverty alleviation chairman Mikee Romero, whose three terms as party-list representative featured a prolific record of 144 laws that helped improve people’s lives.
The younger Romero has vowed to build on 1-Pacman’s legacy of effective lawmaking and its premier advocacy of sports development for all.
“We look forward to 2025 with renewed vigor and optimism for sports development and poverty alleviation in the country,” said Milka Romero. “I’m confident 1-Pacman will again make its mark with noteworthy performances from its nominees to the House.”
The year 2025 looks very promising for the Pacquiao brothers and 1-Pacman party list. Manny is looking forward to his enshrinement in June at the International Boxing Hall of Fame, where he will join Floyd Mayweather Jr. and seven boxing greats he has beaten before.
