Gun, liquor ban to start Jan. 8 in Manila for Nazareno 2025
MANILA, Philippines — A ban on guns and liquor will be imposed in Manila starting January 8, ahead of the Feast of the Black Nazarene on January 9.
This was announced by the Manila Police District (MPD) and Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna at a press conference with the feast organizers at the Nazarene Catholic School in Quiapo on Friday, January 3.

“There will be a gun ban from January 8 to 11. There will be a gun ban here in Manila in connection with the Feast of the Nazarene,” MPD Director PBGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay said in Filipino.
Meanwhile, Lacuna said a liquor ban would be implemented around the vicinity of the feast’s area in Quiapo from January 8 to 10.

Earlier, the National Capital Region Police Office reported that it was deploying over 12,000 cops and 2,000 augmenting personnel to oversee public safety during the celebration, in which millions of devotees are expected.
