DepEd, DOST vow to bolster science education

MANILA, Philippines 鈥 The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the country鈥檚 science education.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara and Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. underscored this partnership during the appointment ceremony of the new campus directors of the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) on Thursday.

鈥淲e are fully committed to working together. We noticed that your hymn highlights how science is the foundation of a progressive nation. That鈥檚 the bottom line here,鈥 Angara said in a mix of English and Filipino a statement on Friday, referring to the DOST hymn.

Solidum also highlighted the importance of collaborating with DepEd in building the nation鈥檚 foundation for science, technology, and innovation.

鈥淲e have been discussing how we can work together with them and help them as well in making sure that our reach would go beyond the Philippine Science High School system,鈥 Solidum said in a statement.
