LUCENA CITY — Due to rough sea conditions, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended trips of small vessels in the northern part of Quezon province since Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4.

In an advisory issued Sunday morning, Jan. 5, the PCG in northern Quezon based in Real town, cited the 5 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) that “strong to gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon are prevailing.”

The PCG warned that the poor weather is “expected to affect” the northern Quezon town of General Nakar including the northern and eastern Coast of Polillo Islands (Panukulan, Burdeos, Patnanungan and Jomalig).

“In this regard, all trips of vessel and small crafts with 250 gross tonnages and below plying the route within the abovementioned areas of northern Quezon are hereby suspended,” the PCG said.

The PCG said that the suspension order, which took effect started Saturday at 5 p.m., would be lifted once weather/sea conditions improve.
