MANILA, Philippines — The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) rally at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila, on Monday, January 13, is expected to attract 1 million attendees, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

“The anticipated number of attendees is 1 million, coming from different provinces,” noted MMDA chairperson Don Artes during a press conference Friday.

He added that traffic congestion is also foreseen on Monday since the attendees are expected to be transported by cars, vans, and buses.

MMDA traffic operations officer Manny Miro said they had designated some roads leading to Quirino Grandstand as parking areas for the event – which may trigger bottlenecks.

The INC will conduct its “National Rally for Peace” on Monday to express its support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
