PCG suspends sea travel of small vessels in northern Quezon

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspends sea travel for small vessels in the northern part of Quezon province. LUCENA CITY 鈥 The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel for small vessels in the northern part of Quezon province since Friday afternoon (Jan. 10) due to rough sea conditions.

In an advisory, the PCG station based in Real town, cited the 5 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 11) forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which said that 鈥渟trong to gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon is prevailing or expected to affect the eastern seaboard of southern Luzon.鈥

The affected areas include the Polillo Islands in the Pacific Ocean, which host the municipalities of Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Jomalig, and Patnanungan.

鈥淎ll trips of vessel and small crafts with 250 gross tonnages and below plying the route within the abovementioned areas of northern Quezon are hereby suspended,鈥 the PCG said.

The suspension order was first issued on Friday at 5 p.m.

The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel for small seacrafts may be resumed when weather or sea conditions permit, as may be declared by Pagasa, the PCG said.
