Parañaque fire ravages warehouse

Parañaque map. – A fire hit a warehouse in Parañaque City on Saturday, January 11, 2025, resulting in millions of pesos in damage, the Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) reports. Initial investigation showed the blaze originated from the right rear portion of the warehouse along West Service Rd. Irene Ville 2, Brgy. Marcelo Green. MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at a warehouse in Parañaque City on Saturday morning, leaving it totally damaged, the government’s fire agency said.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said in a report that the blaze started at a warehouse along West Service Rd. Irene Ville 2, Brgy. Marcelo Green, Parañaque City.

The warehouse is occupied by Cirma Group and owned by a certain Stelita Morrihy, according to the report.

In an interview with , Mark Otuto from the Chief Operations section of BFP – Parañaque said that the warehouse was totally burned down.

BFP-NCR’s report noted that the damaged area was approximately 500 square meters.

He, however,noted that nearby warehouse and houses were not involved in the blaze.

“May katabi pero hindi nadamay kasi mataas ‘yung firewall nitong mismong warehouse,” Otuto said.

(There were nearby establishments, but were not affected because of the the warehouse’s high firewall.)

He also said that the resources used to extinguish the fire were fucntioned well.

“Smooth yung operations dahil naka-tap sa malapit na water source, ‘yung hydrant,” he added. 

(The operations were smooth because we tapped a nearby hydrant.)

The BFP-NCR said estimated damage to property is P17,500,000.

Authorities said the fire hit the first alarm at 9:24 a.m. and then the second alarm at 9:27 a.m.

Firefighters said they were able to control the blaze at 10:09 a.m. and finally extinguished it at 11:32 a.m.

Initial investigation showed the blaze originated from the right rear portion of the warehouse. The cause of the fire, however, is still for further investigation.
