Gov’t work suspended, roads closed in Bacolod due to INC rally

BACOLOD CITY — Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered the suspension of work at all capitol-based provincial government offices here on Monday afternoon, Jan. 13.

The suspension of work was ordered in view of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) national rally for peace at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod which is expected to be attended by more than 20,000 members.

There will be temporary road closures from 6 a.m. to midnight on Monday for the INC rally, said Jose Antonio Robello, Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department deputy.

The North and South Capitol roads, Lacson Street from Cottage Road to 15th Street, and a portion of 6th Street will be closed, the city government announced.

He said the following temporary traffic scheme changes will be enforced:

Robello advised the public to use alternate routes to avoid the closed streets.

Use navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps for real-time traffic updates and alternative routes, he said.

INC, in a statement, said the gathering underscores its steadfast commitment to fostering national harmony and promoting values of compassion, cooperation, and collective strength.
