MANILA, Philippines — Heavy to intense rains are expected in the eastern sections of Luzon and Northern Samar due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
In its 5 p.m. heavy rainfall outlook on Sunday, Pagasa said heavy to intense rains ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters (mm) may be experienced in Catanduanes from Sunday to Monday afternoon.
“Numerous flooding events are likely, especially in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near-rivers,” Pagasa said in its advisory.
Meanwhile, the following areas will see moderate to heavy rains of 50 to 100 mm during the same forecast period:
- Quezon
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Masbate
- Northern Samar
In a separate weather advisory, the state weather bureau said that the shear line will affect Southern Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected in Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Quezon.
Pagasa likewise warned of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains in the affected areas.
